In the the CalWORKs Association’s Student Voices, the CalWORKs students are the stars. So, as you write your story, enjoy and have fun. There is no right or wrong answer. THIS IS YOUR STORY… your words are powerful and your words matter.

AFFINITY GROUP DESCRIPTIONS AND ESSAY PROMPTS
Using a maximum of 350 words, please share your story by selecting one of the affinity groups. Each affinity group is designed to capture diverse experiences from current CalWORKs students. You are only required to select ONE affinity group from the list below.
To learn more about each of the three affinity groups, please take a moment and read the descriptions and essay prompts. If you need assistance in writing your essay, please connect with your CalWORKs Director/counselor from your respective college for support.

2. | It Takes a Village! | support student-parents achieve their educational goals. Do you have a network of people who are part of your "village"? | Describe your village. Who is in it and how do you work as a team to support your family? your education, and your success? |
3. | Back to the Future | What do you know now that you wish you knew then? As a student-parent, what would you go back in time and do differently? | As you reflect on your educational journey as a student-parent, what lessons have you learned and what words of advice would you offer to other parenting students pursuing highger education and resources, such as supportive services offered by the community college CalWORKs Program? |
